Banana Follies

This album features a previously unreleased concert recorded by the BBC in 1972.

Between 6 September and 24 September of that year Kevin Ayers together with a few friends (including Archie Leggett, Lol Coxhill and David Bedford) presented a nightly musical revue at London's Hampstead Theatre Club under the name of "Banana Follies".

The set featured a mixture of old and new songs and even a playlet performed by actor George Wilson and David Bedford.

The 8 page booklet features detailed liner notes, photos and press reviews of the show and a note by Kevin Ayers.

"...I remember that we laughed a lot and gallons of wine were drunk. I doubt one would get away with this unprofessional approach these days but it worked in a laid back way - way back then!"
